As faith is a major cornerstone of Catholic education and at the center of all we do within Light of Christ Academy, our faith formation is taken very seriously. Every child in our Montessori Atrium experiences the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program. It is a Christ-centered, hands-on, liturgically based program designed to aid religious formation for children.
Our school has a designated Atrium space within the Montessori classroom. It is a peaceful place for prayer, meditation, and contemplation. Within the Atrium are materials that aid each child in further developing their relationship with God and His church.
Children experience the Catholic faith through an Atrium filled with materials to nurture the relationship between the child, God, and His church and to understand the traditions of the Catholic faith. Children work with materials that allow them to experience the traditions of the Catholic faith and represent the symbols and traditions of Mass in a child-like, age-appropriate setting.
As an extension of our Catechesis of the Good Shephard program, children have personal interactions with our Priest and Deacon as they explore the Catholic Faith.
Testimonial about Montessori Education
We have the utmost respect and confidence in the Montessori teachers of Light of Christ Academy. We have three of our sons in the classroom this year. What have we seen? Renewed confidence in the education system. We know that when we drop off our boys in the morning they are treated with love, dignity, and respect. Additionally, we know that they are learning about the Church, faith, and Jesus. It is a pleasure to hear the boys singing songs they learned at school, and sharing tidbits about something they worked on at school. -Fred Reynolds
